Trust

For many years of my life I trusted myself to look after me better than I trusted God to look after me. Many times I have found it easier  to trust my ability more than God's ability. I have struggled trusting God.

One of the reason(s) I have struggled in life is because I have  not always trusted God.

This can cause significant problems in society, as humans can become very busy trying to create what ultimately would have been provided for them.

Job 15:31 Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless, for he will get nothing in return.

Jeremiah 17:5 This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.

It is far better to be destitute and trust nothing more than God than to own the whole world yet trust anything more than God.

2 Kings 18:5 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him.

Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Jeremiah 51:46 Do not lose heart or be afraid when rumors are heard in the land; one rumor comes this year, another the next, rumors of violence in the land and of ruler against ruler

Psalm 115:9-11  All you Israelites, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield. House of Aaron, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield. You who fear him, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.

God, Whoever He Is would reveal Himself sufficiently to you so that you would   understand He can be trusted more than you can be trusted.

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 44: 6 I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory;

Psalm 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.

Psalm 118:9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

God is completely trustworthy (faithful), anything else is a misrepresentation of God. God wants to help you. He wants to help you trust Him with your whole heart.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

2 Samuel 22:26 To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless,

Psalm 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.

If you have misrepresented God by being unfaithful to Him by trusting yourself, your position,  your financial status, your ability, etc more than you trust God etc, it is my belief that God wants to help you return to faithfully trusting nothing more than you trust Him.

Joshua 24:14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

Jeremiah 3:12 Go, proclaim this message toward the north: “‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord, ‘I will frown on you no longer, for I am faithful,’ declares the Lord, ‘I will not be angry forever.

Jeremiah 3:14 “Return, faithless people,” declares the Lord, “for I am your husband. I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion.

Jeremiah 3:22 “Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding.” “Yes, we will come to you, for you are the Lord our God.

Proverbs 12 :22 The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.

You are faithful (trustworthy) if you faithfully represent God.

Genesis 6:9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.

You are faithful (trustworthy) if you  faithfully obey God.

Numbers 12:7 But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.

You are faithful (trustworthy)  if you faithfully want nothing more than God.

Deuteronomy 11:13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul—

You are faithful (trustworthy) if you  are careful to represent God.

1 Kings 2:4 and that the Lord may keep his promise to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’

You are faithful (trustworthy) if you are loyal to God

Psalm 12:1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.

You are faithful (trustworthy) if you trust in God's provision.

Proverbs 28:20 A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

If you have little faith, you can be afraid about what you were never made to be afraid about.

Matthew 8:23-26

When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was engulfed by the waves; but Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”

You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm.

Luke 12: 22-32

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap; they have no storehouse or barn, yet God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than the birds!

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his lifespan? So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you worry about the rest?

Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!

And do not be concerned about what you will eat or drink. Do not worry about it. For the nations of the world strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added unto you.

Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide yourselves with purses that will not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 14: 25-31 During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately spoke up: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” “Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.” “Come,” said Jesus.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”

Matthew 16: 8-10 Aware of their conversation, Jesus said, “You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread? Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?  Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?

Matthew 17:17 And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.”
