Wanting what God wants

I have wanted what God does not want, I have not wanted what God wants. 

Hosea 6:6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Wanting  what God does not want is not from God.  

1 John 2:16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

James 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

God does not want  anything that hurts you.  

Deuteronomy 5:29 Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!

Numbers 15:39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes.

 You wanting to hurt you is not from God.

Ezekiel 23:30 have brought this on you, because you lusted after the nations and defiled yourself with their idols.

Jeremiah 7:24 But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.

James 1:14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.

God wants to help you in your heart.. 

Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

He wants you to turn back from wanting to hurt yourself.

Ezekiel 14:6 “Therefore say to the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!

When you know God in your heart, you will be more enabled to want what God wants. 

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

God wants you to know Him even as His Son Jesus Christ knows Him

John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
