Hypocrisy

At times I have outwardly acted perfect, while all the time in my heart I was not perfect at all. At times I have outwardly acted loving while in my heart I was not loving at all. At times I have outwardly acted "humble" while in my heart I was not "humble" at all.

It is my belief that if you claim to be some sort of religious person who represents God yet you do not represent God in your heart, you misrepresent Him more than if you did not claim to represent Him.

If you have outwardly acted like you represent God while inwardly you have not, God wants to help you.

He wants to help you stop hurting you.

Matthew 23:23

23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

He wants  you to turn back from hurting you.

Ezekiel 18:31 Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?

He wants you to return to Him with your whole heart.

Joel 2:13 Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
