I have not liked criticism of myself and my actions even though it was true
You can hurt yourself without physically hurting yourself.
If someone is making decisions that hurt them and others of you, one way to help that person is to help them make decisions that lead to life. Sometimes the only way that this can occur is to provide sufficient deterrence.
Someone Exists Who has not ever wanted you hurting yourself.
Micah 6:9 Listen! The Lord is calling to the city— and to fear your name is wisdom— “Heed the rod and the One who appointed it.
He would not be Who He Is if He did not discipline you.
Proverbs 10:17 Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.
Misrepresenting God in your heart will hurt you more than just about anything else will hurt you. It is more dangerous than smoking, doing drugs, excessive drinking, obesity, lack of exercise, etc as it is often the cause of these behaviours.
God wants to help restore you.. Jeremiah 31:18 Restore me, and I will return, because you are the Lord my God.
It can be a bit hard to want to return to Someone you think doesn't want you. So one of the ways to help you respond to discipline is to help you know the truth about God
Hebrews 12:10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.
He wants to help you turn back to Him for not other reason than for your good. He values nothing more than He values you.
