Who He Is‎ > ‎

Favoritism

At times I have treated some people better than others. At times I have treated people differently because of the way way they have spoken and acted. I have shown favoritism and in so doing I have misrepresented Who God Is.

Humans have a tendency to get along with certain people better than other people.  This tendency can end up meaning that some people  end up outside of our normal social circles. This ends up misrepresenting Who God Is to people. People can end up thinking God has favorites, rates according to some sort of likability factor,  race, religion, career, social position, ability to talk, education, appearance, etc. People can end up thinking God would not want use them, help them, or be with them as they are not special enough. God, Whoever He Is would reveal Himself sufficiently to you such that you would understand He is the same God for you as He is for me or anyone else. .

Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

Proverbs 28:21 To show partiality is not good— yet a person will do wrong for a piece of bread.

Deuteronomy 16:19 Do not pervert justice or show partiality

Matthew 12:46-50  While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”

48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

James 2: 1-5 My brothers, as you hold out your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, do not show favoritism.

2Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. 3If you lavish attention on the man in fine clothes and say, “Here is a seat of honor,” but say to the poor man “You must stand,” or, “Sit at my feet,” 4have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

5Listen, my beloved brothers: Has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him?
