In your heart wanting others to be better than you

I have at times said (or not said) and done (or not done) things to be more important than another. I have at times said (or not said) and done (or not done) things to be more intelligent than another. I have at times said (or not said) and done (or not done) things that gave the impression the purpose I was given was a product of me. I have at times acted like what I owned was a result of my hard work. I have at times acted "perfect" to be more "perfect" than another. I have been quick to accept the praise of people and have often been reluctant to speak the truth because I wanted to create a "good impression"  If in my heart I have wanted to be better than anyone, I have been proud and in so doing I have misrepresented the humility of God.

One of the reasons you may be struggling in life is you may be struggling wanting others to be better than you.

If you are wanting more attention than someone,  wanting to be more "in control"  than someone,  wanting to know more, be more helpful, more intelligent,  more loving,  more popular, more perfect, be more recognized,  more successful,  more useful,  more right, more wealthy, etc than anyone you are struggling being humble.

Wanting to be better than anyone helps no one.

Ecclesiastes 8:9 All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt.

Humility: In everything wanting to be better than no one. .

Please note, Not being better than someone in something is not  humility, humility is not wanting to be better than someone in something. You can be the most useless person who continually "boasts" of being the most useless person, yet be less humble than some very talented person who continually "boasts" of their talent, yet does not want to be better than anyone.

I believe when you know in your heart how much God wants you and others of you to be better than Him,   you will be a lot more able to want others to be better than you.

God in his heart is completely humble, He wants you to be better off, more successful, more famous, more useful, etc than He Is.

If you have hurt yourself by wanting to be better than anyone, God wants to help you. You can turn back to wanting others to be better than you to the same extent God wants you to be better than Him.

If you have misrepresented God's humility, deciding to turn back from wanting to be better than anyone helps you know the humility of God.
