Humility

I have at times said and done things that indicated I was more important than another. I have at times said and done things in a manner that indicated I was more intelligent than another. I have at times said and done things that gave the impression the purpose I was given was a product of me. I have at times acted like what I owned was a result of my hard work. I have at times said and done things in a manner that indicated I, of myself was naturally loving, forgiving, helpful etc . I have been quick to accept the praise of people and have often been reluctant to speak the truth because I want to create a "good impression"  If through my thoughts, speech or actions I have taken credit for something only God should have taken credit for I have been proud.

Proverbs 8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

If through my thoughts, speech or actions I have taken credit for something only God should have taken credit for, I have thought, spoken, and/or acted in a way that misrepresents God.   God is completely humble, He wants you to be better off, etc than He Is.

Isaiah 2:11 The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 16: 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.

Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.

Psalm 138:6 Though the LORD is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, he sees them from afar.

Luke 18:14 But the tax collector stood at a distance, unwilling even to lift up his eyes to heaven. Instead, he beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’ 14I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For every one who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Luke 16:15 So He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is prized among men is detestable before God.

1 Peter 5:5  Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

IT is far better to be destitute, physically sick, foolish and know God than own the whole world, be physically healthy and "wise" and not know God.
Jeremiah 9:23 This is what the LORD says: "Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD
