In your heart wanting others to be better than you

I have at times said and done things to be more important than another. I have at times said and done things to be more intelligent than another. I have at times said and done things that gave the impression the purpose I was given was a product of me. I have at times acted like what I owned was a result of my hard work. I have at times acted "perfect" to be more "perfect" than another. I have been quick to accept the praise of people and have often been reluctant to speak the truth because I wanted to create a "good impression"  If in my heart I have wanted to be better than anyone, I have been proud.

One of the reasons you may be struggling in life is you may be struggling wanting others to be better than you.

If you are wanting more attention than someone,  wanting to be more "in control"  than someone,  wanting to know more, be more helpful, more intelligent,  more loving,  more popular, more perfect,  more successful,  more useful,  more right, more wealthy, etc than anyone you are struggling being humble.

Wanting to be better than anyone helps no one.

Ecclesiastes 8:9 All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt.

Humility: In your heart wanting others to be better than you.

I believe when you know in your heart how much you are worth to God,   you will be a lot more able to want others to be better than you.

God in his heart is completely humble, He wants you to be better off, more successful, more famous, more useful, etc than He Is.

If you have hurt yourself by wanting to be better than anyone, God wants to help you. He wants to help you turn back to wanting others to be better than you to the same extent He wants you to be better than Him.

Proverbs 8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Isaiah 2:11 The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 16: 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.

Proverbs 22:4 By Humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honour and life

Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.

Psalm 138:6 Though the LORD is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, he sees them from afar.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Luke 18:14 But the tax collector stood at a distance, unwilling even to lift up his eyes to heaven. Instead, he beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’ 14I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For every one who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Luke 16:15 So He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is prized among men is detestable before God.

Mark 9:35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

1 Peter 5:5  Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
